Imagine you are sitting in a comfy chair, chatting with your best friend; your favorite drink and treat are brought to you. You feel comfortable and happy. The place smells of fresh coffee with hints of cinnamon. NO, this is not your house (I mean if it were you would be getting coffee yourself right?). Java Punk is truly an experience and a great one at that. It is everything I just described and more.
Their grand opening was January 15, 2018. In less than two years, they have made a great impression on everyone who enters their doors.
I find myself very lucky to know fellow business people who are as passionate about their work as I am. Java Punk is my kind of people :0 (I know, Grammarly, that doesn’t make sense, but it does in my head, so go with it) They are all about finding your tribe and your community. When you walk in the door, there is a note hanging up that says ‘We value your color, class, creed, gender, and orientation. THIS IS A SAFE SPACE. Anything less will not be tolerated.’
Stephanie, one of the owners, always has a smile on her face and loves what she does. Java Punk is located off of Tutt, across from CarMax (between North Carefree and Barnes). If you have not been there, you HAVE TO GO! My friend Kim introduced me to it and I can’t find another coffee shop quite like it.
A lot of local artists display their work there and have it for sale. Make sure to check their work out and show them some love by liking their page! Some of my fav artists include:
Dragoncrest Studios (https://www.facebook.com/dragoncreststudios)
Lil Miss Marmalade (https://www.facebook.com/lilmissmarmalade)
Lorraine Martin with The Butterfrog (https://www.facebook.com/thebutterfrogartist)
My go-to drink is the Dorien Grey- and since I (try to) eat Gluten Free, I LOVE it because it tastes like a cinnamon donut- and if you do it dirty, then you get your coffee in also- it is Keto friendly and has no artificial sweeteners or hydrogenated oils.
If you are looking for a local coffee shop to support- don’t think- head over to Java Punk and tell them Mandy Penn sent you 😉
