Newborn photos are what I do, but did you know that I also do newborn photos of pets?! Our family got a new puppy, Kaladin (any Brandon Sanderson fans out there?), and I HAD to do a cute newborn puppy photo shoot of him! I didn’t wait long to take the photos, but it was long enough that he was ALREADY bigger and more hyper by the time we did this shoot!
Taking newborn photos of babies can sometimes be a little challenging if the baby is fussy or wide awake, but the work is usually more about getting everything just right! That was NOT the case with Kaladin’s photos. I actually had to try several different times to get this newborn puppy photo shoot done, and he was so active and stubborn for the vast majority of it! This little guy sleeps a lot, but somehow he just KNEW when I needed sleepy puppy photos and decided he would never be tired again! The few pictures I got of him sleeping were a miracle.
Let’s be real… most of his photos were more like this…
Really, I have others of him in midair jumping out of the tub, him running toward the camera instead of sitting still… it was an adventure, to say the least!
For example, getting this adorable picture as a part of Kaladin’s newborn puppy photo shoot was not as calm and peaceful as this looks! You see the end result is ADORABLE, but here’s what it took to get there:
He was determined to eat his miniature self! And he kept picking the little felted puppy up in his teeth and running off with it! Somehow even this is cute, though, isn’t it?
Kaladin really is a very good boy. He’s been so much fun already for our family, and he gives the best snuggles! He’s playful, he’s smart, and he’s great with our other dog (although she seems to be a bit more annoyed with him now that he’s getting bigger). In case you’re wondering, he’s a short-haired Pointer, and my husband is already VERY excited about the bird-hunting future he sees with this little sidekick. And if you’re wondering about the name, Kaladin is a character in author Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive, who according to my husband is one of the best characters by one of the best authors, and a very big deal!
I feel like he looks incredibly unimpressed in both of these photos. If you had been there, you’d know he was. BUT LOOK HOW CUTE!!!
Admit it… looking at these cute pictures of my new puppy from his newborn puppy photo shoot has made your day! I know I can’t stop looking at them! And it’s so hard to believe that he’s ALREADY bigger than this. Where did my little baby go?
